Lower Dover

Nuestra estancia en Lower Dover fue la mejor de nuestro viaje. La propiedad tiene su propia jungla privada, ruinas mayas y un río para nadar, ¡absolutamente perfecto! El desayuno es delicioso y el ambiente es realmente agradable. Nuestra cabaña era súper acogedora, con su propio baño y mosquitero. ¡Absolutamente lo recomendaría!

Este es un lugar realmente hermoso, realmente justo en la jungla. Los anfitriones son muy amables. Las rutas de senderismo y los lugares para nadar son hermosos. Internet era potente, por lo que pude trabajar de forma remota sin problemas: había muchos lugares para atender llamadas y la señal era buena. ¡Las comidas también eran geniales!

Maddy es la mejor anfitriona que podrías desear: cálida, interesante y perspicaz. Lower Dover es maravilloso y los senderos de la jungla son geniales. Estancia perfecta, personal maravilloso y gente alrededor.

Excelente lugar para un par de días, el dueño es increíble, ¡la comida que ofrecen es muy buena! ¡gracias por todo! ¡muy recomendable!

Este lugar es único. Es hermoso y es el único lugar en Belice donde puedes beber agua del grifo, porque toda es agua de lluvia. También funciona con energía solar y tienen pollos, pavos y patos. Es exactamente lo que buscas cuando buscas un albergue ecológico. Maddy, el dueño es increíble. Ella está allí para recibirte y darte un recorrido por la propiedad, así como para ayudarte a organizar los recorridos que desees. Y como está tan cerca de la cueva del cajero automático, cuando reservamos el recorrido, su guía nos llevó a la cueva antes que los demás. ¡Lo teníamos para nosotros solos! Al salir, había como 200 personas, todas unas encima de otras, entrando. Así que sí. Lo superó. Ella también te ofrece una cena increíble la primera noche que estás allí, y puedes solicitar el desayuno y/o la cena todos los días.y son deliciosos, caseros y saludables porque a ella le encanta la nutrición. También te ofrecerá transporte y te dirá todo lo que necesites saber sobre dónde ir y qué hacer. Las habitaciones son bonitas, las duchas increíbles, la comida es increíble, el anfitrión es increíble. Altamente recomendado.

Right off the main highway, Maddie and her slice of paradise were wonderful, and very reasonably priced! My favorite part was her thick luscious jungle trails, which seemed out of place considering how close to civilization the place was, but what a treat!

A homely stay in the jungle amongst Mayan Ruins. Perfect. I was dropped off by a shuttle bus on the main road and JB met me with his wheelbarrow to transport the luggage up to the lodge. We walked a short distance along a beautiful path into the jungle. My accommodation was simple, clean and comfortable with wonderful views. I had dinner and two breakfasts - all delicious, especially Maddie's overnight oats. Everyone was super friendly and bent over backwards to make my stay memorable and fun. ATM cave tour was well organised and quite incredible. Maddie then kindly dropped me back to the bus stop on the main road for me to travel to Belize City at 6am!

This jungle lodge is amazing, the home cooked diner is very good and made with love and the overnight oats for breakfast is the best!
The place has cabins and dorms, all very colourfull and peacefull. There is dogs, chickens, mayan ruins and a river that you can even swim in. Perfect place to get zen. The people are lovely, Maddie is very passionate about her lodge and the ruins. I loved it.

We stayed at Lower Dover and was mesmerized by how beautiful this place is. Was met with a beautiful and clean cabin, couldn’t have felt more comfortable. Maddie, our host was very attentive and the food was delicious and healthy. There is also a river that you can relax and do some yoga or simply sit and observe nature or take a walk on the trails.

I highly recommend Lower Dover for its beauty and great hospitality. Will definitely be back.

Madeline and her staff are amazing and welcoming. They provide delicious, healthy, home cooked meals as well. The grounds have a plethora of things to do and to explore, the showers are nice, the rooms are roomy, and the dogs on the property are sweet. Highly suggest supporting this lodge if you need a place to stay.

A real hidden gem! This property is beautiful! I love the story of how this place came to be and Maddie is a genuinely lovely host!

All the meals were delicious! (Breakfast and dinner available for $6/$12 respectively) they do meals all together so it's a great time chatting and getting to know everyone. So much space to wander around and really relax.

Tours are easily set up to pick up from lower Dover and there are also some cheap options to explore on your own close by. I was only going to stay for a night but extended to the end of my trip, just loved it!

Loved this place. A nice break from crowded hostels, great facilities and nice to explore the surrounding grounds.
I recommend taking the walk down the the property, the locals are so friendly and welcoming for all visitors

The place is just perfect, a little paradise hidden between more frequently visited towns. It's right on the jungle border but not far away from the main road, so you can go anywhere around by bus. The owners are super welcoming and caring for everyone to feel at home. The food is great.

The site has a bunch of colorful houses on shiny green grass and everything is spotless clean. I stayed in the dorm room with great beds, mosquito nets and enough space for everything.

Exploring the forest and river there is enough of attraction to go but there is also the archeological site.

I can't really think of a better place to explore the area. Thank you for everything!

Such beautiful land and people that make Lower Dover home and the best place to stay in Cayo District, Belize. Stayed for 5 nights and we could have easily stayed longer, it felt like home! The food was the best food I have had in Belize and it was all grown 30 ft away. The animals are awesome, no need for alarm clocks.the sun and chickens will make sure you're awake for breakfast, which will be amazing so don't miss it.
I am already planning to come back, this time I'm heading straight from the airport to you Maddy! I felt spoiled with our super fast wifi in the middle of the jungle. The rainwater showers are to die for, seriously, it made my hair SO soft. The beds are so comfortable and the yard/ property is just so beautiful. We are from Wisconsin so it was very cool coming to a remote jungle lodge in Belize to see Green Bay Packer and Badger decorations.
Maddy has awesome recommendations for day trips or little excursions, she is very knowledgeable. They have partially excavated Mayan ruins with trails through the jungle which are so amazing to hike and explore. They have resident dogs that will walk with you if you are lonely or just feel safe, they are such nice puppies. The Belize River runs along the property and is so beautiful. You can go fishing or swimming in the beautiful tributaries that run through the jungle. So many things to do and we did not have enough time! Cant wait to be back.

I stayed at lower Dover back in October 2019. Maddy was so kind to me my entire stay. Right after I checked in she put one of her dogs on the leash for me to take on a jungle walk while she made dinner. So fun! Maddy was so helpful with answering my questions and making recommendations. She set me up with a guide to go on the ATM cave tour; it’s a must do! She made me a delicious dinner the two nights I was there, and everything was very clean and working properly. Very happy with my stay, I would love to stay again if I find myself back in the area.

Loved the family at lower dover. Awesome site highly reccomend staying at this hostel if in the area. Beautiful ancient ruins on the property as well as a hibiscus farm and starfruit both for making wines available for purchase on the property. Son of the family is very friendly. We met him in the bus and he suggested we visit his parents hostel. We are so glad we did. Was well worth it. They organized adventures for us as well. Daily activities available.

I have never been so at home, somewhere so far from home. The location is absoutely incredible but the best part of this place is easily Madeline. Her hospitality, delicious cooking, and genuine care for her guests is remarkable. Lower Dover is now a second home to me, and I will surely return as many times as possible! I highly recommend if you want a beautiful jungle oasis, this is the place for you.
